1. Selection and application characteristics of new materials for waterproofing projects  Currently, there are five new building waterproofing materials widely used in my country: 1. Polymer modified asphalt waterproof membrane; 2. Synthetic polymer waterproof membrane ; 3. Waterproof coating; 4. Sealing material; 5. Rigid waterproof material.In the following content, the characteristics and construction requirements of the types will be explained. (1) Polymer-modified asphalt waterproofing membrane  The polymer-modified asphalt waterproofing membrane has the highest application rate. Its main features are as follows: 
(1) High-polymer Physically modified asphalt waterproofing membranes mainly use asphalt modified by polymers such as SBS, SBR, APP, and AIA0 as the coating layer [1].Different modifiers have different modification effects on asphalt. For example, APP and APAO can improve the temperature resistance of asphalt. The highest high temperature resistance can reach 130°C, and the lowest low temperature resistance can reach below zero. 10℃; if SBS and SBR polymers are combined with asphalt, the asphalt will have stronger low temperature resistance, the lowest temperature can reach minus 25℃, and the highest temperature can reach 100℃.Modifiers can improve the high and low temperature resistance of asphalt, which can not only expand the application range of the membrane, but also improve the vitality of asphalt and extend its service life.   
(2) The thickness of polymer modified asphalt waterproofing membrane can be divided into 2, 3 and 4mm.    
(3) The new modified asphalt waterproofing membrane is made of fiberglass tires, polyethylene films, polyester tires, glass fabrics, aluminum foil and jute fabrics.    
(4) The construction method of polymer-modified asphalt waterproofing membrane has also changed, because its thickness is generally relatively thick, and it only needs to be made into a single layer or double layer to meet the waterproofing requirements.Generally speaking, if the membrane is 2mm, you can use the general cold bonding method for construction. If it is 3mm or 4mm, you can generally use the hot melt construction method for construction.   
(5) The use of polymer-modified asphalt waterproofing membranes can reduce the working temperature of the membranes, and also has the functions of energy saving and extending service life. 
Synthetic polymer membrane     Synthetic resin membrane and synthetic rubber waterproof membrane are both synthetic polymer membranes. They all have the same functions, that is, they are light in weight and have It has high elongation and strength, as well as good temperature resistance, and is suitable for both hot melt and single-layer cold bonding methods.
